When you go to a search engine and enter a phrase or word to search, what you are doing is searching on a “keyword”.
It is important in good Search Engine Optimization to match the keywords and the search words to maximize your first line and first page position in search results.
What is the best way to pick keywords? PICK BY RELEVANCY. The best keywords or phrases are those that are relevant to your website, product and service.
Be sure to avoid some pitfalls when working on optimizing your website for search engines. A very significant and common error is “keyword stuffing”, too many keywords in the meta tags and in the content.
Solution, list only a few keywords or phrases in your keyword meta tag. List the keyword you want to rank for first and then list the other keywords after. Place the keyword you want to rank for only three (3) times in the content of the article. First in the first 50 words, then in the body, and lastly in the last 50 words. Place the others roughly in the same manner, but not as important. Keep the keywords in the five to ten range, or less if possible.
Content is another very important part of a great social media and search engine optimization program. You must have well written and relevant content.
Beware, graphics have a negative effect on your site if they are over used. Search engine robots detect text and skip over graphics. However , if you code your image; a textual description of the graphic, then the robots will see it and your ranking will be better.
